Art Exhibits @ UCBC

Dana Larsen…I have always enjoyed incorporating textures and mixed media in my work so I begin by creating a surface.  The surface usually does not directly relate to the image but will complement and add interest to an idea.  A variety of paints, along with sketching, drawing and collage completes the process.  Cassette tapes and black rings from the tops of film canisters are some of the unique objects I’ve used on two new pieces in the show.   I recently retired from teaching art in Darien where my very talented students offered endless inspiration for my own work.

Jaclyn Sammis is the Darien Public School K-12 Art Curriculum Coordinator and painter/ textile artists.  Current work focuses on painting from direct observation using expressive textures and colors. In the classroom, I like to show my students how I am a practicing artists, so I work on assignments along side them to demonstrate painting techniques.  Several of my paintings being showed at UCBC started as student examples.  I like to work large and create layers in my work.

Abigail Duncan, Painter…Working in a variety of mediums, Abigail explores color palettes, and creates vivid contrasts and movement with paint. She enjoys gathering with other Fairfield County artists to explore ideas, critique, and exhibit work. In her past life, she worked as an Art Director in Advertising, and currently teaches Art at Saxe Middle School in New Canaan.
